We are back, and ready for action!

After 5 long months, we're delighted to announce that IBTC Portsmouth re-opens for training on Tuesday 1st September. We're looking forward to welcoming a brand-new cohort of students to Boathouse 4 for the first time. Happily the vast majority of the students whose training was suspended in late March are also able to return, and they will start back the following day.

We are welcoming back students to a newly reorganised, more socially-distanced and deep-cleaned college. The staff who returned earlier in the summer have been busy making alterations and improvements. Every centimetre of space in our large Boathouse is being utilised to protect our staff and students, who will be assigned to one of four 'pods'. Each pod has its own kitchen, rest area, toilets, work space and break times, with PPE and sanitising gel ready whenever it's required.

The set-up is different, but thankfully the purpose is still the same - passing on a huge range of traditional joinery and boatbuilding skills to the next generation of artisans and craftspeople. We can't wait to get going!
