It is a course designed to teach the traditional joinery skills to work on boats or build furniture through various practical exercises. It's suitable for students of all skill levels, including those with no prior experience.
Developing the accurate use of hand tools is key to all aspects of woodworking.
Students begin with simple measuring and cutting and progress, via joints and the use of adhesives, to the manufacture of their own woodworking tools. As part of the course you will make your own mallet, spirit level and hardwood tool chest, among other things. All materials are provided, and the items you make are yours to keep.
The Joinery Course is self contained, but also forms the first part of the 1 year Boatbuilding Course for those students who wish to progress further.
The course is full-time. The usual hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
